Jason started his career in Principal Investments at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He later became a founding member of NewQuest, which became part of TPG Solutions, where he helped build a multi-strategy private-equity secondary platform with over US$3 billion in assets under management. His experience spans structured transactions, growth investments, secondaries, cross-border capital markets, and liquidity solutions across Asia and global markets. With a computer-science background from the University of Pennsylvania, Jason is an active AI entrepreneur — giving OutRidge a practical lens on how AI reshapes unit economics, distribution, workflow ownership, and enterprise value.

Thomas Schmidt
Partner
Thomas Schmidt is a Partner at OutRidge and leads the platform's cross-border strategy, with a particular focus on US investment sourcing and execution. Thomas has more than a decade of experience across alternative assets, private equity and frontier technologies. He led APAC strategy and growth at Brookstone Capital (with US$12bn AUM), driving regional expansion and portfolio value creation across Asia. Thomas holds a Master in Finance from London Business School and is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and Korean.

Jay Yao
Partner
Jay Yao is a Partner at OutRidge, in charge of deal sourcing, investment underwriting and Asia coverage. As a serial entrepreneur, Jay has raised over US$50M across his last two startups - including a successful exit - backed by Sequoia Capital, Founders Fund, Lightspeed Venture and Binance Labs. Jay began his career at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, and advised private-equity clients on M&A and strategy at Strategy&. Jay holds dual bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Industrial Engineering from Columbia University.
